Boko Haram invades S/West for bulletproof charms •Offers N10m for each potent, tested charm

Sunday Tribune gathered that the last few weeks have seen large-scale efforts being made by people believed to be members of the sect to contact native doctors in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State, especially Saki, for bulletproof charms.

Incidentally, Saki and some other Oke-Ogun towns have a very strong Islamic orientation with a large population of northerners, especially cattlemen, already making the area a home.

According to a source who claimed to be in the know about the recent attempt to seek Yoruba traditional protection by the Boko Haram members, a huge amount of money ranging from N5 million to N10 million was said to be on offer “if the amulet is made and tested okay.”
“Recently, some strange people have been coming to Oke-Ogun for traditional bulletproof and most of these people are Northerners, though their contact persons are Yoruba. What we learnt was that anyone that facilitates the Boko Haram’s contacts’ meeting with a herbalist, who could make a potent charm would also get a commission of 40 per cent, with the remaining 60 per cent going to the herbalist,” the source said on condition of anonymity.

He noted that the state of emergency in some states of the North and the strict surveillance on the sect coupled with the widely known efficacy of Yoruba bulletproof charms could have been responsible for the sect’s search in Oke-Ogun, warning traditionalists to be discerning “so as not to empower destroyers who will return to haunt them and their communities in the distant future.”
When contacted on the development, the Oyo State Director of State Security Services (SSS), Mr Charles Ugwu, told Sunday Tribune that he
was not aware of it.

He added that he believed the native doctors knew what had been going on in the nation, and if approached by suspected Boko Haram
members, they should give information to their community leaders or approach the security agencies in their zone.

Ugwu pointed out the presence of security agencies in Oke-Ogun axis which included an army battalion, police division, Directorate of State Services and Operation Burst, among others, which could be reached by members of the public to give valuable information that would aid security.

Also, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, said that it was good that the police command was receiving the information, while she called on members of the public generally and residents of Oke-Ogun area in particular to avail the police the vital information on the presence of the people in their localities.
“If they don’t, it is like a time bomb which would affect many if not detonated quickly, so they should not hide such information. We assure them that their identities will be well protected.
They can also send letters stating the information they wish to give,” she added.

The PPRO stated further that the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed
Indabawa had already instructed police officers all over the state to look into the piece of information and act on it immediately.

'I used dead teen's blood to hide from terrorists', tells radio presenter

Earlier, a survivor from the Nairobi mall attack told of how she smeared herself in the blood of a teenager to fool the terrorists into
thinking she was dead.

Radio presenter Sneha Kothari Mashru said the teen lay dying next to her as she hid from danger.

"I realised he was shot, because he was bleeding," she said. "So I pulled out (his) phone slowly and I tried to switch it off, it was all full of blood, and I tried to switch off the phone so that it could stop ringing (in case it alerted the attackers).

Sneha Kothari Mashru described how she smeared a teenage boy's blood all over her body to trick the terrorists into thinking she was dead.

"So I took a lot of his blood, (as) much (as) I could and I tried to put it on myself. I put it on my arm, a lot of the teenager's blood,
and while I was trying to put it on my hand I just realised that he had stopped breathing at that time.

"So I put it on my arm, as much as I could, and I covered my face with my hair, because my hair was let loose even then, just to
pretend that I'm dead or probably badly injured," she said. "I would still love to know who he is and everything, because his
blood probably protected me from getting probably more injured or attacked."

Bosire, another survivor narrates how the terrorist lured some victims out of hiding:
"Before long they started to call out: 'If you're still alive, we'll let you go'. I heard some ladies call out. I wish they hadn't. I wish
they'd held on, because I heard them get shot in cold blood."

Teacher Remanded in Lagos for Fondling Breasts of His 11-year-old Student

A teacher, Augustine Akpan, who allegedly fondled the breasts of his pupil, an 11-year old girl, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ikeja Senior Magistrate’s Court sitting at Abule Egba, Lagos.

The police arraigned 30-year-old Akpan before the court on a two-count charge of indecent assault and fondling the breasts of his pupil.

It was gathered that the girl helped her teacher to carry his bag to his house after the day’s lesson. It was then the teacher allegedly tricked her into his room.

He was about to sexually assault the girl and was playing with her breasts when she raised the alarm that attracted people nearby and
the suspect was arrested and handed over to the police.

Inspector Rachael Williams, the police prosecutor, stated that the offence Akpan allegedly committed is contrary to and punishable under sections 135 and 261 (2) of the criminal law, volume 44, of Lagos
State of Nigeria, 2011.

When the charge was read to the suspect, he pleaded not guilty.
Although the offence is a bailable one, he could not meet the bail conditions in good time.

He was therefore remanded at Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa, Lagos pending when he could perfect the bail papers.

According to P.M.NEWS, the suspect is the teacher of the pupil in her school and when her parents saw that Akpan is a good teacher, they hired him to give her extra lesson at home.

Akpan’s sister was said to have blamed the incident on the devil and was making concerted efforts to secure the teacher’s bail.

According to her, Augustine Akpan is a nice person and had his wedding introduction ceremony recently. She wondered what could
have led him to commit such an act.

The court has been adjourned till 15 October, 2013, for mention.

Fashola Apologises To Igbos Over Poor Handling of Deportation

Many thought there is even no need for an apology since those destitutes were abandoned by the government of their state, Anambra, but Governor Babatunde Fashola is a man of peace.

Two months after deportation of some Igbo destitute by to their home state, Governor Fashola on Thursday rendered an apology to the Igbos, saying

“the action of our government was misunderstood.”
“Why should people feel compelled to migrate from one place to the other? Is there one part of this country that is less endowed whether in human or natural resource? Is that the problem? Is it the case that perhaps some parts are so endowed or not
adequately managed?
"The truth is that I do not have a problem with the Igbos, they know
that because:
The largest herd of cattle I received during my father’s burial came from the Ndigbo. Those people who came under their many colours
are not people I have a problem with, they are my kindred and my
people.
"Also, there were people who did not clearly understand me and they have misunderstood words said or misrepresented actions taken in the way that it has pleased them to do so. To those people, I owe an explanation, not a defence of what has happened and that is partlywhy I am here."

Fashola who spoke at silver jubilee symposium of Igbo think tank, ‘Aka Ikenga,’ at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos, insisted that he could not allow differences on a subject matter tarnish
the bond and friendship that were built overtime with the Ndigbo in the state.

According to him: “We have built a relationship based on tolerance, mutual respect, trust and love. That relationship was started by our ancestors, it was handed over to us and we have nourished it with a
lot of trust, with a lot of understanding and with a lot of fidelity.

“Those who misunderstand that relationship, think that there is no value in that relationship I have come here to correct that because I place a lot of value on that relationship. If those people have misunderstood me or they have misunderstood actions taken by our government, here, now and today, I offer an unqualified and unreserved apology.

On the poor state of development in many Igbo states, Fashola said:
“Those are the honest debates that we must have. The political
storm is gathering and allusions have been made to the issues I
address, not only by the chairman, but by the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo. How can development be so difficult in the part of Nigeria that gave us Ike Nwachukwu, Chinua Achebe, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Odumegwu Ojukwu, Alex Ekwueme and so on? How can development be so difficult in that part of this country? I think those are the real
issues.”

The event was attended by Igbo politicians and icons including, Senator
Ike Nwachukwu, who chaired the occasion, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha,
Kanayo O. Kanayo, Onyeka Onwenu, among others.

Angry Arik Air Passengers Cause Confusion At Abuja Airport, Block Airport Runway (Photos)

Angry Arik Air passengers yesterday, Thursday evening caused confusion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after they
disembarked from an Arik Air flight that was meant to take them to the Margaret Ekpo Airport, Calabar from Abuja.

The disgruntled passengers practically held passengers on other planes
at the airport hostages as they blocked the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, preventing planes from taking-off or landing.

According to reports, the angry passengers' flight that had the Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, on board, was denied landing at the Calabar airport at about 5.30pm by the station manager due to safety concerns.

It was learnt that despite pleas by the aides to the governor to allow the landing of the aircraft, the station manager refused, citing the fact that the runway lightening was poor thus, the pilot was left with no
other choice than to return the passengers to the Abuja airport.

A passenger in one of the stranded airplanes at the Abuja airport said
he and other travellers had to disembark and sat on the tarmac for more than one hour after the pilot announced that the plane could not take off because the runway had been blocked by the angry Arik Air
passengers.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, Federal Airports
Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Yakubu Dati, who confirmed that Arik passengers blocked the runway, blamed the airline for the incident.
He added that the passengers had insisted that Arik must compensate them for breach of contract, especially since the flight was delayed.

The spokesperson of Arik Air, Mr. Adebanji Ola, however said that it was not the fault of the airline that the Calabar airport was closed by the time the flight from Abuja got there.
He said:
“The flight was delayed because there was Very Important Personality movement and there was also some weather issues, it
is not the fault of the airline that the plane could not land there.
We are amazed that despite the security at the Abuja airport,
passengers were still able to hijack the aircraft and hold other planes to ransom, that should not be the case.”

Zamfara: 8,000 Women Cry For Help! We Need Men In Our Lives

Over 8,000 women on Thursday marched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission seeking the state government’s assistance to enable them
get married.

Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya Suwaiba Isa and their patron Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe, the women said they were not living a normal life and needed husbands to become whole.
“Many of us cannot afford two meals in a day because there are no men to support us,” they said.

The patron, said the association has over 8,000 women, comprising
5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he said, were looking for men to marry.

He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husband houses.
Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the women.

He said the screening would determine the suitors health status, source of livelihood and ability to maintain a family.

Responding, the Chairman of the commission, Dr Atiku Zawuyya, commended the association for the initiative, saying it would assist in ridding the society of women of easy virtues.
Zawuyya promised to present the matter to the state government for necessary action, but urged the patron to also set up a similar body for men to make the pairing exercise easier.

Boko Haram leader, Shekau resurfaces in new video

A video believed to have been released by the
wanted leader of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah
Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko
Haram, Abubakar Shekau, surfaced in
Maiduguri on Wednesday.
In it, a man claiming to be Shekau, debunked
earlier claims by the Nigerian military that he
died from gunshot wounds on August 19,
2013.
The then JTF spokesman in Borno State, Lt
Col Sagir Musa, had in a statement said,
“Intelligence report available to the JTF
Operation Restore Order revealed that
Shekau, the most dreaded and wanted
terrorists’ leader may have died.
“He died of gunshots wounds received in an
encounter with the JTF in one of their camps
in Sambisa Forest on June 30 , 2013. Shekau
was mortally wounded in the encounter and
was sneaked into Amitchide-a border
community in Cameroon for treatment from
which he never recovered.”
But in the video, Shekau said the world
“should know that he could not die except by
the will of Allah.”
According to the British Broadcasting
Corporation Hausa Service, the Boko Haram
leader is seen in the video wearing a
camouflage, seated and surrounded by dozens
of hooded lieutenants.
Although no link was provided for readers to
view the video, the BBC Hausa Service quoted
one of its reporters, Aliyu Tanko, as saying the
voice of the man in the video sounded like
that of Shekau.
Tanko also claimed that the video emerged
from a source previously used by the Boko
Haram leader. Previous reports of Shekau’s
death later proved to be unfounded.
Perhaps to prove that the video was recently
recorded, Shekau claimed responsibility for
the September 17, 2013 attack in
Benisheik, Borno State, where about 142
people were either shot dead or slaughtered
An online news portal, Brimtime.com,
however gave more details of what Shekau
said in the latest video.
“Here I am, alive, hale and hearty, “ it
quoted him as saying .
Shekau, according to the portal, said that
President Goodluck Jonathan, United States
President Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth,
French President Francois Hollande and Sagir
should hang their heads in shame for lying to
the world that he had been killed.
The Boko Haram chief said, “ Sagir Musa
should hang his head in shame, President
Jonathan (of Nigeria) should hang his head in
shame, President Obama should bury himself
in shame, and President Francois Hollande
shouldhang his head in shame, Queen
Elizabeth (of England) should hang his head in
shame.
“They said I am dead, but here I am. The
world should know that I am alive and will
only die at the appointed time. Everybody
should be judged according to the dictates of
his conscience.
“What I am doing is written in the Holy
Qur’an and the Hadith and I will not stop. I
challenge all the clerics of the world to
question my deeds. Those underrating my
capacity should have a rethink. I will never
allow democracy to thrive.
“The concept of government of the people by
the people for the people will never be
possible and will never exist. Democracy shall
be replaced only by the government of Allah,
from Allah and for Allah.”
Insisting that the military will never subdue
his group, he added, “Nigerian soldiers are
late. After killing many of them in Monguno
and Benisheik, we have snatched their
armoured carriers and a Hilux van and then
hoisted Islamic flags on them. We now move
freely with them.”
Boko Haram, which claims to be fighting to
create an Islamic state across Nigeria, has
been blamed for many violent attacks which
have killed nearly 2,000 people since 2011.
When one of our correspondents contacted
the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen.
Ibrahim Attahiru, he said, “On the issue of
that man being alive, we are investigating it
and we shall get back to you; we are checking
the veracity of the story.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has
deployed more troops in Borno State
following the increase in terrorist activities.
A security source said on Wednesday that
trucks carrying many troops were sighted
along the Damaturu-Maiduguri Road on their
way to Maiduguri  on Tuesday.
The PUNCH exclusively reported on Tuesday
that the military had deployed fighter jets in
Borno , Yobe and Adamawa states.
Nigerian troops are battling Boko Haram
insurgents, Al-Qaeda from Algeria,
Mauritania, Somalia and the Niger Republic.
Investigations on Wednesday revealed that
the deployment of additional troops was due
to the fresh attacks being launched by the
insurgents against villages and Army positions
in the North-East.
A military source said, “The fight is still on
but the Army doesn’t want people to know
what is happening there. Several truck loads
of soldiers have been moved to Borno State
since the deployment of the Air Force fighter
jets on Monday.
“I think, the plan is to conclude this fight
once and for all and they are really serious
about it; it could be because of what
happened at Kasiya forest where the Army lost
some men, arms and ammunition.”

Revealed: The Woman Who Led The Terrorist Attack In Kenya

Samantha Lawthwaite is the wife of the late Jermaine Lindsay, a terrorist who was one of the four people that killed 52 people in a
series of well co-ordinated suicide attacks in parts of London, using the public transport system during the morning rush hour in 2005.
Now she's taken over from her husband.

Samantha is said to be the leader of the deadly Islamic terrorist that attacked the Westgate mall in Nairobi Kenya on Saturday, where many have lost their lives.

This British-born Islamic terrorist lady has been on security watch but
continue to operate. Now the question being asked by security
watchers is:
Could it be that the "White Widow", Samantha Lewthwaite, has been
killed during rescue efforts by Kenyan forces at the Westgate mall?

Before the soldiers took over the mall, it was gathered that a white
woman wearing a veil was giving orders to gunmen in Arabic during
the bloody massacre inside the shopping mall.
Sources say Samantha may have been killed as a dead white woman
was found among the Islamic terrorists killed by soldiers as they re-captured the Westgate mall on Monday evening.

But Al-Shabaab, the Islamic terrorist group, has praised Samantha's effort and claimed that she is still alive.

Caleb University Bad Guy, Ugochukwu, Rapes 2 Lagos Babes Through BlackBerry

Here is how the bad guy operates: Ugochukwu Agudosi's mode of
operation is to chat up his victims on the BlackBerry as a big boy.
Along the line, he would invite them for a date, an offer the girls
always fall for because of his posh car and false lifestyle.
But rather than take them to an eatery as anticipated, he would take
them to an uncompleted building in Ikeja Government Reserved Area,
Lagos, where he used them mercilessly.
Nemesis caught up with Ugochukwu after one of the girls he raped in
that manner, who found out she used to be his senior in secondary
school, decided to take action.
She reported the 22-year-old undergraduate of Caleb University to the
Police, leading to his arrest and he has been arraigned for allegedly
raping the lady in an uncompleted building.
He was granted bail and Oguchukwu went ahead to rape another Lagos
babe. He is now facing a four-count charge preferred against him by
the Police before Magistrate Sule Hamsat.
Surprisingly, when the charge was read to him, Ugochukwu pleaded
not guilty. Magistrate Hamsat granted him bail in the sum of
N100,000, with two sureties in like sum. But despite the expensive car
he drives, he could not meet the N100,000 bail bond, hence he was
remanded in prison custody.

According to the Police, “Immediately he raped any of his victims, he
would delete their contacts from his BB chat."
The first lady he raped has decided to withdraw from to case to
protect her identity, but the latest lady he did it to on August 27,

Naija's Soffield: UniJos Undergraduates Steal N2B Electronically From Union Bank

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) have arrested two young
men identified as Isaiah Friday and Azzaior
Samuel for allegedly defrauding a bank the
sum of N2.05b. The suspects who claimed to
be undergraduates of the University of Jos
and two bureau de change operators, Salihu
Mahmoud and Dan Ibrahim, connived to
commit the criminal act.
The suspects were also accused of being
members of a syndicate that specialised in
breaking into the computer data base of
financial institutions to carry out dry posting
of funds...

The Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Wilson
Uwujaren, said the suspects were arrested in
Lagos and Jos.
Their arrest comes on the heels of a petition
which the commission received from Union
Bank of Nigeria Plc, Marina, Lagos, in January
2013, alleging that a criminal attack had been
launched on its data base known as ‘Flexcube’,
by yet-to-be-identified criminals who falsified
the bank records and accounts and created
unjustified huge opening balances in several
accounts across the bank’s branches. They
subsequently transferred funds from those
accounts to several accounts in other banks.
The petition, which was signed by one A.F
Olufade, Head of Fraud Investigation at the
bank, said cash withdrawals and electronic
transfers totalling N2.05bn was involved in
the scam.

It was learnt that EFCC initial investigation
showed that Friday, who was carrying out
computer system maintenance services for
one of the Union Bank branches in Jos,
Plateau State, on a part-time basis, paved the
way for the fraudsters to penetrate the bank’s
database. Uwujaren said, Friday was traced
and arrested. His arrest led to the arrest of
Azaaior Samuel.

Investigations further revealed that Samuel
introduced Friday to Mahmoud, who is the
mastermind of the fraud with others now at
large.
Mahmoud and other collaborators told Friday
that they needed access to the bank’s
database in order to carry out some postings.
They promised to give Friday N.5m if the deal
succeeded. Friday agreed. On the day the
crime was committed, he told people at the
bank that Samuel was his colleague who had
accompanied him to work.

It was learnt that after the gang had
succeeded in gaining access to the bank’s
premises, it carried out the postings to six
different company accounts domiciled in
Union Bank’s Marina branch in Lagos.
The accounts are Gona Bureau De Change
Limited, Jaxmine Bureau De Change Limited,
Dan Kawu Bureau De Change Limited, Godswill
Great Communications, ZHG Services Limited
and A and B Console Limited. The postings
were carried out and the syndicate thereafter
went to the bank to withdraw all the funds.
Friday was paid as promised and other
syndicate members now at large shared the
remaining balance.

The EFCC spokesman added that the
commission had been able to recover
$2,129,900 and another N134,542, from the
fraudsters.
Other items recovered are furniture worth
N10m from Salihu Liman’s one bedroom
apartment in Yaba, Lagos; four vehicles,
landed properties in Kano and Kaduna and a
four-bedroom duplex worth N45m in Lagos.
Investigation into the scam continues…

collects the victims from us and at the
end, we would give him his own share.
We decided to join the church so that
the members would not suspect us that
we were keeping some victims we
kidnapped inside the church.
I was the one who was involved in the
kidnapping of the traditional prime
minister in Enugu-Ukwu and we
collected N50 million from the victim
before we released him and I gave
Pastor Nwaezeagu his 20 per cent share
on that day.

I kidnapped another woman in Awka and
collected N30 million from the family of
victim and kept her in the church and,
after the family paid the ransom, I
released the suspect and I gave Pastor
Nwaezeagu the sum of N200,000."
Myself and my gang kidnapped one
victim, Chief John Uchachuwu at Asaba
and we demanded the sum of N5
million. The family of the victim called
me to come and take the money at
Asaba. When I got to Asaba I collected
the N5 million but the policemen from
the anti-kidnap arrested me and they
took me to Delta State and put me
inside their cell.
He said that he escaped through the
toilet of the cell and quickly moved to
Anambra State to continue his
kidnapping job.
I was arrested in Onitsha market by the
men of SARS and I have confessed to
them about my involvement in
kidnapping," he said.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ballah
Nasarawa said the suspect had been declared
wanted by Anambra State Police Command
before he was eventually arrested on
September 2, 2013 in Onitsha.He said Okafor
was the same suspect that the Delta State
Police Command declared wanted after he
escaping from the cell through the toilet in
2013.
He stated that the suspect had kept several
victims he kidnapped in the church in which
he was a member and which he used as a
hideout.

CP Nasarawa added that, besides the kidnap
instances that Okafor gave, the suspect was
also behind the abduction of the Chairman of
Association of Electronics Dealers in Nnewi
and collected N30 million that he shared
among his gang members and released the
victim from the church in which he was kept.
Also commenting about Okafor, Delta State
Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba
said  the notorious kidnapper had with his
gang kidnapped one Chief John Uchachuwu in
Asaba and they demanded N5 million as
ransom and the police played along as they
negotiated ransom payment. He was told to
come and collect the money in Asaba. It was
in the process of collecting the ransom that
he was arrested.

I'm Proud To Say Patience Jonathan Is My Jesus Christ ––Bipi

For the first time since he tried to impeach
the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly
with five members backed by the powers in
Abuja, Hon Evans Bipi, representing Ogu Bolo
State Constituency in the House has come out
to address some of the thorny issues.
Below is
a brief excerpt:

You were seen in a video trying to snatch
a GUN from a policeman. What did you
want to do it?

What happened was that after Chidi Lloyd
used the mace to hit my colleague, he ran
away, then the governor came, supervised the
beating of my colleague. So, I was running
after him (Rotimi Amaechi). That policeman
now used the gun to hit me. Take a look at
my hand. So I dragged the rifle in anger. I
don’t know how to shoot. I was only trying to
ask him why he used the gun to hit me. I was
only trying to let him know that what he did
was bad. Why did he stop me from going after
the governor? I was going to meet the
governor to tell him that coming to the House
to supervise the beating of my colleague was
not good.

Why do you call the President’s wife
mummy? Are you in any way related to
her?

Have you forgotten that she is from Okrika?
So, whoever attains the position of the First
Lady, what would you call the person? You
call her mummy. She is the mother of the
nation and she is the mouthpiece of Okrika
people. She is the mother of Okrika people.
So, every Okrika person calls her mummy.
But you are from Ogu Bolo. Is Ogu Bolo
near Okrika, why she hails from?
Ogu Bolo is Okrika. They are all Okrika
people. It is like Ikwerre and Obio/Akpor;
they are all Ikwerre. It is only the local
government areas that split them. So, as an
Okrika woman, who has risen up to that
position, everybody calls her mummy.

Is that why you also call her your Jesus
Christ on earth? What is her role in your
life?

People are misinterpreting this Jesus Christ on
earth. Let me say this. Man is God to man; it
is in the Bible. You must not see God; you will
see God through somebody. God said, see me
through Jesus Christ. That is why we are
seeing God through Jesus Christ. This woman
(Patience Jonathan) is everything in my life.
She made me what I am today.
Are you talking about politics?
Politically and otherwise; I can say it
anywhere. I can say she is my Jesus Christ
because she has made me who I am today.
That is the truth and I can defend that
anywhere. Babangida’s wife was from Delta
State. Her people called her mummy.
Yar’Adua’s wife is from Katsina, all the people
from Katsina call her mummy. Even Governor
Rotimi Amaechi’s wife, the people call her
mummy. When a woman attains such level,
everybody calls her mummy. It is a form of
respect to her. But to me, my mummy
(Patience Jonathan) is special because she
brought me up to this level.

How Ex-gov. Segun Agagu Mysteriously Died

Agagu who had returned from the US on
Thursday, reportedly slumped in Ikoyi,
where he was having a meeting with Ondo
indigenes, on Friday evening.

Agagu’s former Chief Press Secretary, Yemi
Olowolabi, said the former governor was
not sick and had just returned from a 20-

“They were having a meeting with Ondo
State people. Alex Akinyele was there. He
slumped. It is shocking, devastating. We will
all miss him. I can’t believe he will just
die.”
Said former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo
Alao-Akala, who described Agagu’s death as
shocking.
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko,
described the death of his predecessor as
shocking, adding that Ondo has lost a
colossus, whose vacuum would be difficult
to fill.
Mimiko said, “He would be remembered as
a consummate politician and lecturer, who
imparted knowledge to many people across
the world.”
Reacting to the sad new, a member of PDP
Board of Trustees, Chief Ebenezer Babatope,

never held grudges.”

Disquiet in community as 27-year- old stands trial for raping mother in Ekiti

Twenty days after 27-year-old Akintunde Omotehinde reportedly assaulted his 60-year-old mother sexually at Ajebamidele area of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, residents of the area are still in shock over the incident.

Although the Omotehinde family kept mute over the issue, some people in the neighbourhood said they heard about the incident.

Speaking to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, some residents, said rape was not a common occurrence in the locality.

The residents spoke with our correspondent in separate interviews on Thursday.
One of the residents said, “The news was shocking. Not many of us believed the story at first but the truth cannot be hidden for too long.
The woman, a petty trader, was
said to have been raped by her son. She was badly injured and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

“I can tell you that the family is presently living in shame. We hear that the family members are planning to move out of the
house but we cannot confirm that.”
It will be recalled that the matter was
heard by a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.
The accused has been remanded in prison
custody pending the determination of the
case by the court.
The Prosecutor told the court that the
accused person raped his mother on the
August 23, 2013 at their residence at
Ajebamidele Area of Ado-Ekiti.
When our correspondent visited, the victim
was said to be unavailable.
A petty trader in the area, who spoke on
the condition of anonymity, described the
news as incredible, saying, “I don’t even
know the name of the boy and I don’t know
what he does for a living but I always see
him on the street. I know him as an easy-
going young man.”
An artisan, who pleaded anonymity, said
that the accused person used to smoke and
drink. He said, “I am sure that what he did
was not as a result of drunkenness. It must
have been premeditated.”
A clergy in the area said, “What happened
between the boy and his mother is evil.
They allowed themselves to be used as
instruments in the hands of Satan. How can
one explain a situation where a son has
canal knowledge of his own mother? It is
evil. The boy has attracted a curse upon
himself and his generation.”
The Prosecution told the court that the
offence contravened Section 358 of the
Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Patricia Ajibade, has
ordered that the accused be remanded in
prison custody, pending the legal advice by
the Director of Public Prosecution.
The Magistrate adjourned the case till
October 16, 2013.

Ozekhome home, recounts ordeal in kidnappers’ den

During the celebrations included the
slaughtering of a cow at his home,Human
rights activist, Mike Ozekhome, who was
kidnapped for two weeks recounted his
ordeal

“My ordeal began on Friday August 23,
2013. I left Benin at 2pm for my home
town.“I ran into the kidnappers some
minutes past 3pm. It was my driver,
Chinedu, who noticed that a vehicle had
been used to block the road and he told
me that the people were armed robbers.
So, I told him to quickly turn, but
before he could turn, a gun was already
on my head. one of the men said if he
moved an inch they would kill me.
“So, I told my driver to stay put. They
dragged Chinedu and I out of the car,
shot the tyres of the vehicle and locked
him in the boot and made me lie flat
on the floor of their car. I heard them
say, Police! Police! Police! They also
added, ‘no retreat no surrender.’
“I heard a staccato of bullets; it was like
a war situation as they were firing
continuously. As they were firing, the
car was moving.
“I heard them say, ‘oh we have killed
some of them, but tomorrow, they
(police) will come out and lie that some
of us were injured but none of us has
been injured’.”
The victim said the kidnappers drove the
vehicle for about four hours before
dumping them at an uncompleted
building in the middle of nowhere.

Ozekhome said contrary to earlier
assumptions, the kidnappers did not
know who he was initially.
He said it was after he had been
abducted that the suspects started
asking him about personal information.
He said, “I was not targeted, meaning
that they merely operated randomly. It
is bad news because it could have been
any other person. It was while we were
in the car that they started asking
questions like what was my name and I
replied, ‘Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN.’
“They searched my pocket, took out the
complimentary cards and other things.
After checking one of the cards, one of
them said, ‘yes, that is what is written
on your card.’
“They asked how long I had been
practicing, I said 32 years. They said if I
told them a lie, they would know by the
following day from the press.”
Ozekhome said the kidnapper’s den was
run like a camp. He said the kidnappers
had a doctor and a cook, adding that
the place was heavily secured.
He recounted how the kidnappers
brought in their doctor to cure him of
Malaria and Typhoid when he took ill at
the uncompleted building
He said women and little children were
also victims.

“We were about 13 in the camp. One
woman and her two children were also
there too. I fell ill on two occasions and
they feared that I might die. The first
time they quickly called their doctor
who also wore veil like them and he gave
me some malaria drugs,” Ozekhome said.
The victim stated that in the process of
facilitating his release, the head of his
Abuja chamber, Dominic Ezerioha, and
his son were also abducted.
He said, ‘They said Ezerioha and my son
should come for me, but they were
abducted and brought to the camp. We
were all released about 7am yesterday
(Wednesday) in Benin.

“We were eating most of the time once
in a day. We ate Eba and Ogbono, we
also ate white rice and jollof rice.
“We were locked up in a room which
was very hot. The windows were only
opened on two occasions. A colony of
mosquitoes descended on us and feasted
on us like barbecue.”

The lawyer decried the state of insecurity in
the country, calling on the Federal
Government to offer amnesty to all
kidnappers and also declare a state of
emergency on security and youths
unemployment.He, however, declined to state
how much was paid as ransom.

Jilted man connives with 7 friends to rape his ex-lover in Lagos

A jilted man has been arrested by the police
for allegedly conspiring with seven other
men to gang-rape his estranged lover, a 28-
year old woman (name withheld) in Lagos
State, southwest Nigeria.
The man identified as Stephen Obi, was charged with conspiracy and rape before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court, while seven of his accomplices are still on the run.
Some of the seven men on the run are still threatening to kill the lady if she continues to prosecute the matter.

The 23-year old Obi claimed he works with a brewing firm in Lagos and hails from Umuahia in Abia State, while the victim is from Imo State, southeast Nigeria.

The relationship between the lovers
allegedly went sour after the woman asked
Obi to marry her.
Obi allegedly told the lady that he was not ready to marry her because she was five years older than him, and wanted the
relationship to continue.
The victim refused and said since he was not ready to marry her, he was no longer
interested in the relationship.

On the day the lady was allegedly gang-raped, Obi reportedly invited her to Baba Olopa Street, Adexson, in Igando to settle their differences.
She obliged him and went. She said when she entered his room, seven of his friends came in and they locked the room and started beating her and asked her to strip.
She said they  cut her finger with blade and used a white  handkerchief to clean the
blood that came out and told her she was under oath with them.
She said they told her that she would die if she revealed what happened to anybody.

According to her, “Obi then brought out condoms and gave them to the seven men who started raping me in turns.” She said after they were satisfied, they allowed her to go.

On getting home, she said she told her father what happened and they went to Igando Police Division and reported the matter and Obi was arrested and charged to
court. But the other seven men escaped before they could be arrested.

She said she was still shocked over what they did to her and that they are still calling her phone threatening to kill her if
she continues to prosecute the matter.

“I am scared, they are calling me with these
phone numbers: 08102117847, 07037458340,
threatening to kill me and I don’t know
what to do now,” she lamented.

When the matter came up on Wednesday,
Obi pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Mr Nicholas Atumonye,
presented the doctor’s report before the court which indicated that the victim was sexually abused.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr M.B. Folami
said after going through the doctor’s report
that Obi should be remanded in prison
custody at Kirikiri.
The matter was adjourned till 23 September, 2013.

Ugandan Girl Serves Six-Hour Jail Term For Killing Her Rapist Father

A court in Uganda sentenced a teen age girl to a six-hour jail term for
killing her rapist father
It was probably one of the most unusual sentences delivered in the
country, but the case was just as unusual as it was heartrending.
The Masaka High Court presided over by Lady Justice Margaret Oumo
Oguli, Monday heard that 18-year-old girl killed her father on May 8,
after he had raped her.
It was not the first time he was doing so. The 58-year-old man had
been raping the daughter repeatedly from the time she was 13 years
old.

Prosecution led by Peter Mugisha told court that the convict violently
killed her father using a knife and a panga after the deceased
performed sexual acts against her.

Mr Mugisha, however, asked court to give her a maximum sentence
which requires death, saying the act she performed was illegal.
A lenient sentence
His argument was that she should have reported the matter to police
and not killed him.

Defence led by Mr Edward Kikirengoma, however, did not agree with
the State, saying the act the father did to his daughter was
condemned, especially in Buganda Kingdom.

Mr Kikirengoma told court that the convict needed to take charge of
her life since she had become tired of her father’s cruel acts, adding
that court should look into the condition of the girl as she was six
months pregnant, with the child of her father.
“..... revealed that as she was sleeping in the house, she did not know
that her mother, 56, had gone out; her father learnt that his wife
wasn’t in the house and came into her bed and raped her. Since they
were living in a one-room rented house, the father took advantage of
his own children,” Mr Kikirengoma said.

It emerged that the man had also impregnated his three other
daughters.

Defence therefore asked court to give the killer a lenient sentence.

Police dismiss women filmed receiving N100 bribe

Two traffic police women, Corporals Elizabeth Itolor and Jennifer
Azingbe, who were videotaped receiving N100 bribe from a bus
driver in Lagos, have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.

Itolor and Azingbe, attached to the Makinde Police Division, were said
to have received their dismissal letters on Wednesday.
The Police Provost Unit of the Lagos State Command concluded an
orderly room trial of the policewomen last week.

Both women were said to have spent nine years in the police as they were recruited in 2004.

A source, who requested anonymity, told PUNCH Metro that Itolor and Azingbe got their letters at their duty post.
He said, “They reported for work this morning and they were given dismissal letters. They have been crying ever since and appealing to
everyone they know to help them salvage the situation.”

The corporals’ dismissal is contained in a circular which stated that
the policewomen were dismissed over “despicable acts and corrupt practices contrary to Paragraph E(iii) and C(iii) respectively of Schedule 1 of the Police Act and Regulations 370 of the Federation of Nigeria 1990.”

A video footage on Youtube posted by one Afro Finlandia a few weeks ago, showed one of the policewomen negotiating a N100 bribe with a commercial bus driver at the Oshodi/Apapa Expressway.

The video, which had over 40,000 views, and generated public outrage
on social media, led to the arrest of the women.

In the video, the driver was seen trying to negotiate his way out of a
bribe. But despite the driver’s pleas, the policewoman refused to let the bus move from the spot after taking on more passengers.

Angry, the driver was heard saying, “Don’t abuse me because of N100.
How much is N100? Me I don pass N100.” The policewoman, who was sitting in the bus to prevent the driver from taking off, retorted, “E no concern me. Pay me my own money.”
The driver then instructed his conductor to hand over N100 to the policewoman. The policewoman subsequently alighted from the bus and was later seen in the video walking away with her colleague.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, said she would call back.

Edo state sends stowaway boy to boarding school

Edo State Government, in mid-western Nigeria, has secured admission in one of the state’s top secondary schools for 13-year-old Daniel
Oikhena, who stowed away in the wheel well of an Arik Aircraft from Benin to Lagos on Saturday August 24, this year.

The State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole made this disclosure during the visit of Mr George Uriesi, Managing Director, Federal Airports
Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other FAAN Management team to him at the Government House, Benin City, yesterday.

According to the Governor, “without meaning to encourage anyone
else, we decided to support him by sending him to one of the top secondary schools in Edo State that is owned by the Government. The reason for opting for a boarding school is that we think that there need to closely watch him which his parents could not do.

“He is an intelligent young man
with uncommon challenges, but
one that has a vision. We had
him examined by people who
should know and the result
confirmed that he is normal”,
Oshiomhole noted.

“This incident was probably the
kind of trigger that we needed
to improve the facilities at our
Airports. You are never going to have all the money you need to do all
you have to do. You should start from somewhere”, he noted.

Oshiomhole added “it is also a security issue that we do not have any
runway security lights at the Benin Airport. It is a security issue because a plane can take off and it is flying to Benin airspace and it
has mechanical faults and it cannot land.

“Politically, there could be an emergency in Edo State and the
President needed to visit and he cannot land at the airport at night.
You cannot spend the kind of money you are spending on remodeling and the little one you have to do is to ice the cake and you have a complete project. You should take this as something more urgent”, he added.

Earlier, Mr Uriesi said they were in Benin City for ground assessment
of the stowaway incident which has forced FAAN to review and
improve on its security arrangements.
He said: “we are responding to the incident of the stowaway of that
young boy a few weeks ago which was a big surprise to all of us.

“We want to inform you that we have taken strenuous measures to
ensure that a similar incident does not happen. It was serious and
miraculous event, because prior to that day, I would have told you it
was a death sentence. We are trying to create an awareness that this is
a death sentence and young people should not attempt it at all. The
likelihood of survival is slim.”
On the security arrangements put in place to check a recurrence,
Uriesi said FAAN plans to acquire security vehicles on take-off and
arrival of planes and that security teams made up of the Air force and
airport security will now patrol the airports.
He said “one of the negative things we inherited was that the airports
were not fenced, or some of them were fenced at the beginning and
the fences have fallen apart.
“We have a plan to fence the airport and it is an onerous task. The
smallest airport perimeter fence in the country is fourteen kilometers
and the biggest one is about 33 kilometers. Altogether it is about 500
kilometers. It is a huge capital outlay. We need to secure the airports.
“We also wish to enlighten the youths that they should not try it. This
boy is a miracle boy”, he noted.

Waziri To Obasanjo: Watch Your Mouth, Respect Your Age

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mrs Farida Waziri, has reminded former President Olusegun Obasanjo that ability to be used to witch hunt political enemies in the rabid pursuit of a third term agenda has never been part of the qualifications for appointment as chairman of the anti-graft agency,
Newsdiary online reports.

Waziri stated this while reacting to publications on
allegations made against her by the ex-president. Obasanjo
had been quoted as saying that Waziri was not qualified to head the EFCC when she was appointed chairman of the
anti-graft agency.

In a statement personally signed by Waziri and made
available yesterday, the former EFCC boss faulted the allegations levelled against her by Obasanjo.
She said, “My attention has been drawn to a number of allegations made against me by Obasanjo. One of such was the alleged involvement of former Delta State Governor
James Ibori in my appointment. While I hold the office of a Head of state, either serving or retired in the highest
esteem, I will like to put on record for the umpteenth time
that this is totally unfounded, blatant lie and arrant
falsehood.
“It is therefore worrisome when a man who has been
twice a Nigerian head of state can descend so low to peddle
falsehood. The truth is that I never met Ibori in my life
until after months in office as chairman of the EFCC when
I used to see him in the presidential villa.
“It is on record today that I initiated the investigation that
drove Ibori into the waiting hands of Interpol and Metpolice. As such, it is illogical and nonsensical for
anyone to continue to insinuate that Ibori has a hand in my appointment. I remember this was one of the lies Obasanjo’s sit-tight pawns cooked to stop my appointment
as EFCC chairman in 2008.

“On the issue of qualifications raised by Obasanjo, the
qualification for appointment as chairman of the Commission as stipulated in its Establishment Act says that the chairman shall ‘be a serving or retired member of any
government security or law enforcement agency not below the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police or equivalent;
and possess not less than 15 years cognate experience’. Late
President Umaru Yar’Adua did not have to alter the Establishment Act when he was appointing me unlike what
Obasanjo did.

“Again for the records, I served in the Nigeria Police force
for 35 years and got to the pinnacle of my career before
my appointment as EFCC chairman. If Obasanjo’s real age
has not blurred his memory, I will like to remind him that I was a Commissioner of Police, Admin Force CID, CP
General Investigations, CP Anti-fraud, CP X squad, CP Police Special Fraud Unit where I secured the first conviction in a case of Advance Fee Fraud in Nigerian
history.
“These are all prime investigative organs of the Nigeria
Police where I related with other law enforcement agencies
including the FBI across the world. I must place on record
that at SFU, I did not only relate with FBI, Interpol and
Metpolice among others , we carried out joint operations at
different times on a number of cases. I have also led the
Nigerian delegation to the Interpol headquarters in France.
“To further expose the height of mischief in the allegations,
the past and present chairmen of the EFCC have both
worked under me, yet someone can open his mouth to say I am not qualified to head the same agency. This is in addition to my educational qualifications such as a first
degree in Law, a Master’s degree in Law and another Master’s degree in Strategic studies. I doubt if Obasanjo himself can boast of this level of educational qualifications.

“I will also like to remind Obasanjo that no chairman of
the EFCC has till date beaten my records in terms of
investigation of high profile cases, prosecution, conviction
and recovery.

“I will like to warn that those who live in glass house
don’t throw stones and as such Obasanjo should not allow
me open up on him. Respectable elder statesmen act and
speak with decorum”

Atiku Was Corrupt, Waziri Was A Wrong Choice For EFCC Chair - Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun
Obasanjo has yet again opened up
over the estranged relationship
between him and his former
deputy, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,
saying that despite the fact that the
latter was corrupt during their
regime, he (Obasanjo) had to take
him along for his second term in
office in 2007 due to expediency.

“At that time, politically, I needed
to carry him (Atiku) along but then
to put him in check,” said
Obasanjo.

Obasanjo, who said that he was
unaware of Atiku’s activities until
law enforcement agencies in
America alerted his government,
however, confessed that he could
not in good conscience ask that his
deputy be investigated then.
He, however, said he could not
ignore the calls by the Americans
to investigate the ex-vice president,
which the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC) did
then.
The ex-president added that the
allegations by the Americans were
justified since Atiku is a fugitive in
United States.

“I don’t know if he can go to
America…He travels? Travels to
where? To Dubai? Let him go to
America and return to Nigeria”.

He also took a swipe at the same
EFCC, saying that the commission
had lost its original vision of a bold
and fearless agency capable of
fighting economic and financial
crimes in the country.
Obasanjo made this criticism in an
interview published in the current
and special edition of Zero
Tolerance magazine, a publication
of the anti-graft agency to mark its
10th year anniversary.
Obasanjo also denied ever
prompting Ribadu to investigate
anybody for political reasons but
he was quick to admit that Ribadu
went haywire.

The ex-president also faulted the
choice of Mrs. Faridi Waziri to
head the commission after its
pioneer chair, Nuhu Ribadu, was
unceremoniously removed by the
late Ptresident Yar’Adua, saying she
did not have the cognate experience
and connection needed for the
position.
Talking about Nigeria’s position on
global corruption index before and
now, he said: “There was a lot of
work that was done to achieve that
feat (moving from position number
2 to 45). I think we have come
down to only being above 34
countries; that shows that there
must be a lot that the EFCC should
be doing that they are not
doing. When you have gone that far
down, it becomes very difficult to
climb again.”
“I had the vision of an EFCC that
will be fearless, bold, untied to the
apron strings of the executive,
legislature or anybody for that
matter, and Ribadu was bold,
fearless. I never told him this is the
one you should pursue and
investigate.
“When I was personally accused, I
sent the mail to EFCC and to ICPC. I
asked him to carry out clinical
investigation, leave nothing out,
and they did. And EFCC of my
dream carried it out; that is the
type of EFCC that I want,” said the
ex-president.

Also recalling events leading to the
build-up to the 2007 general
elections, Obasanjo said: “He
(Ribadu) brought a report to me
and said these people are corrupt;
how can I, in my position, receive
a report that said these people were
corrupt.
“I didn’t ask him to carry out an
investigation. He even came out
and said he had found 28 governors
as corrupt and later on,
unfortunately, Ribadu hobnobbed
with one of the governors he had
found corrupt and that is where
things started going haywire,”
Obasanjo said.
He, who said Ribadu did very well
until he lost his direction when he
(Obasanjo) left, however, faulted
the way he was kicked out of office
and declared if given the
opportunity he (Obasanjo) would
re-appoint Ribadu as EFCC chair
and warn him to desist from
corrupt company.
“He did so well that he became a
threat even to the incoming
administration; that’s what
happened. He was so successful that
his success began to be a problem
for him,” he added.

On why Ribadu’s successor was a
wrong choice, Obasanjo said he
learnt that it was a now convicted
governor who scouted for her for
the late Yar’Adua administration.
“I know that the woman they
brought to replace Ribadu (Farida
Waziri) was not the right person
for that job, because I understood
that one of those who head-hunted
her was James Ibori. If James Ibori
who is now in a UK Prison for
fraud head-hunts somebody who
will fight corruption in Nigeria,
then you can understand what
happened,” said the ex-president.

Waziri, however, in the same
edition of the magazine, denied
ever knowing ex-governor Ibori
until she met him after her
appointment at the presidential
villa during one of her routine
visits to President Yar’Adua.
“I never knew him. I never knew
James Ibori. When I was appointed,
I went to the Villa very often
because the president called his
staff and told them Farida has free
access to him 24/7, whether in the
office or villa. So I went there very
often and I met Ibori; he was
always there,” Waziri said.
She said the Ibori toga probably
stuck to her through a former
minister of justice, Michael Kaase
Aondoka, who she called her
“younger brother” on account of
hailing from the same local
government area in Benue State
who, she said, was close to Ibori.

Still On The Story Of Mystery Images In A Mosque In Lagos

Elias Estate, Owode in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council development Area of
Lagos State has been playing host to several visitors since Tuesday
September 3, while Dawis Central Mosque has become a Mecca of
sorts with people trooping down there to catch a glimpse of three
different images said to have appeared on its walls, including those of
two neighbouring buildings in the community.
One of the buildings share the same compound with the Mosque, while
the other one is located behind the Mosque. Most of those visiting do
so for different reasons:
Some to offer prayers, others to satisfy their curiosity over the
appearance of the images which have become a subject of
controversy.

According to sources, the appearance of the three images on the wall
of the mosque was first noticed by an Hausa worshipper who raised an
alarm that attracted neighbours and passers-by. Few worshippers
promptly identified the images as those of three Shehus (leaders of
Islam): Shehus Ahmadu Tijani, Ibrahim Niyas and Jamiu Bulala who
died some years back. According to them, Liyas died in 1975, Tijani
died five decades ago, while Bulala died less than a decade ago. But
news of the appearance of the images created panic among residents,
leading to a stampede.

When Vanguard's Bose Adelaja visited the community last Thursday,
there was repeated shouts of Allah Hakibaru (Allah is the greatest).
Women who came around were compelled to cover their heads before
being allowed to enter the Mosque. Also, many of the onlookers were
seen holding Tesbiu and Al-Quran, claiming they visited the scene
purposely to pray to God Almighty.
Some of the worshippers said that the development prompted some
individuals to convert to Islam. One of them, as claimed, was a trader
at Owode-Onirin who was immediately christened Yusuf.

In a chat with Vanguard, President-General, Dawis Alhaji Ibrahim
Samad and General Cordinator Dawis, Alhaji Idera Afolabi, claimed the
images were first noticed during the 2013 Ramadan but the
worshippers kept the knowledge to themselves until last Tuesday when
the Hausa worshipper raised the alarm.
"About a week to the end of Ramadan, we saw the images on the wall
during a prayer session which prompted us to change our system of
operation. Since then, the Mosque open only during prayer hours until
last Tuesday when a an Hausa worshipper came here to pray and was
baffled at the images. Since then, people have been thronging the
place on daily basis," they chorused.
Some traders also seized the occasion to do brisk business as
photographs of the images are now being sold at N100 each.
During VM’s visit, no government official or law enforcement agent
was seen. However, a branded bus belonging to Ikosi-Isheri LCDA
which was sighted around 12.30pm, left the scene almost immediately.
Asked if government was informed about the development in the light
of the absence of security agents to control the surging crowd, Alhaji
Afolabi said the services of Sherif Guards were employed to maintain
orderliness.

"When we saw the crowd today (last Thursday), we went to Mile 12
Under-bridge to get five soldiers. We were also able to get 20 Sherif
Guards who have been helping in crowd control. Also, the Divisional
Police Officer at Ajegunle was contacted but his boys only came to
satisfy their curiosity," he said.

A sign of the end time

Alhaji Afolabi also dismissed the notion that the images represent a
miracle, saying that they are intended to show the steadfastness of the
Shehus. " The essence is not to record miracles but to tell us the end
has come because God is revealing Himself in an unusual way. Shehu
Niyas once appeared in Agege about three months ago, the images are
there to show that Allah is alive ," he said.
Efforts by Vanguard crew to gain access into the Mosque proved
abortive as the entrances were completely blocked by the surging
crowd.

Resident debunks story

However, an occupant of the building at the back of the Mosque where
some people were seen crying, praying and taking photographs of the
supposed images, John Oche, debunked the story.
John Oche said: " My sister, it is a rumour; the crowd has been
touching our wall, claiming they saw an image but I’m yet to see any
image on this wall O . The crowd has been gathering day and night but
I am yet to see the images".

Pastor takes 12yr old girl to a hotel, rapes her all night

A 12-year-old girl, Miss Ijeoma Mbiaka, on
Wednesday narrated to DailyPost how the
pastor of her church, Rhema Ministries in
Oyeagu Abagana in Njikoka Local Government
Area of Anambra State, Rev Sampson Otisi
allegedly lured her to a hotel, under the guise
of conducting deliverance on her but ended
up raping her all through the night.
Ijeoma, who is hard at hearing, told our
reporter that she had gone to the church to
seek prayers from the pastor so that she
could hear loudly again.
She, however, said she was lured to the hotel
and raped from 9 pm to the next morning
and dumped in the hotel room, where she
cried until hotel attendants rescued
her.Speaking at the Magistrate Court Abagana
after a court session, Ijeoma said she prayed
all night reminding the pastor of the
consequence of his act, but his pleas fell on
deaf ears.

The victim came to the court aided as a result
of the injuries she sustained during the
alleged act.According to her,
"It started on a Tuesday when I went to
the church for prayers. I have not been
hearing clearly with my ears for
sometime, so I went to the pastor for
prayers and when I told him my
problem, he said I should stay behind
that he will pray for me after everyone
has gone"."After the session that day, he
called me to the backyard and started
praying for me. He poured anointing oil
into my ear and mouth. He now ordered
me to remove my dress and he poured
some on my tummy and started
massaging it. After sometime, he started
putting his hand inside (Vagina), to
which I objected. He said he will leave
me if I do not want him to pray for
me".
Ijeoma narrated that as usual the pastor had
asked her to stay behind, that he will conduct
a special prayer for her and her hearing will
be okay again.

"After the service, only he and his friend
were left, he said he will take me to the
house and pray for me, but when I
objected and told him that my father
will kill me, he said I should not mind
that nothing will happen to me.
"He took me to a hotel, ran upstairs and
came back and ordered me and his
friend to come with him. He took us up
and put his friend in another room and
took me to a separate room. He ordered
food for me and hot drink, to which I
objected. He said the drink was part of
the deliverance that I had to drink it. He
forced it down my throat and when I
started to feel sleepy he undressed me
and inserted his 'something' into me;
then he started pushing it in and pushing
out.
"Even when blood was gushing out of
me, he continued to push the 'thing'
inside. I tried shouting but he covered
my mouth, when I could not help
myself, I started praying and telling him
of the implication of what he was doing
to me before God but he kept on".
She said she was only freed the next morning
when she regained consciousness and started
banging the door of the hotel room asking
for assistance.

Though Ijeoma said she complained to her
mum when she got back after the first
incident, her mum, Mrs Ifeoma who also
spoke to DailyPost said she confronted the
pastor the next day and he denied putting his
hand under the girls pant, claiming he was
only praying for her; a defense which led the
gullible woman to accept that the pastor
meant well.
She stated that the truth, however, dawned
on her on the following Tuesday when her
daughter went to the same church and failed
to return home.
"I thought she had been kidnapped, in fact I
believe this is also kidnap", she told our
reporter.

A copy of medical report issued to her by the
Chief Medical Officer of Enugu Ukwu General
Hospital, Dr J.O Akuka which her parents
showed to our reporter revealed that she
sustained bruises, and a torn hymen.
This showed that there was a penetration in
her vagina.Ijeoma's mother pleaded with the
relevant authorities to help her find justice
for her innocent daughter who was violated
by a man she trusted to be a Man of God, as
the matter is currently before a Magistrate
court in Abagana.
He told our reporter that the pastor had
allegedly offered him N500, 000 to keep
sealed lips, an offer he rejected, but
expressed fears that the pastor may use the
money to subvert justice.

The pastor, Rev Otisi, who is the senior
pastor of a branch of Rhema Church in
Abagana refused to make comments when he
was approached. His counsel, Barr CC Achi,
however, said that the matter was only being
engineered by unseen hands from behind as
his client occupied a land that is in dispute.

"The issue here is land dispute, but
these people are being used by someone
who is in tussle over a piece of land with
our client. On a separate allegation of
being previously charged with the rape
of 8-year-old in his church, the lawyer
said it was not true, adding that it was
meant to paint his client in bad light.
