Aliko Dangote Gets Highest Honour In BeninRepublic

Africa’s richest man, and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has been honoured by President Boni Yayi with the highest national honour in the Republic of Benin, the Grand Commander of
the National Order of the Republic of Benin. This honour, which is for presidents and heads of state of Republic of Benin, has Dangote as the first recipient outside government bagging it. At the ceremony which held in the Presidential Complex in Cotonou, President Yayi described Dangote as a true son of Africa who aims for the development of the continent – he also called on the Africa’s richest man to invest in their country.
In his remarks, Dangote expressed his appreciation and promised to partner with President Yayi and the country’s private sector -he then announced that his Dangote Group will invest about $300 million in a
coal-fired 200 megawatts power plant which had its memorandum of understanding signed during a brief ceremony where chief of staff to Aliko Dangote, Engineer Joe Makoju signed for the Group while
Minister of Power, Benin Republic, Kassa Barthelemy signed for his country. A man of honour, Aliko Dangote was in 2011 honoured with
the second highest national honour in Nigeria, the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) making him one of the 10 recipients of this award ever in the history of the country.
